About Us

Campus Calgary

"A chance to be one with nature.  A wonderful way to get to know each other as well as live peacefully with nature.  A wonderful learning journey."
                                               Grade 6 teacher

What do you call a unique and exciting educational program that gives classes the opportunity to move the classroom into the community and learn in a natural environment?

Our Campus Calgary week-long curriculum based program adds value to classroom learning by creating meaningful hands-on experiences that promote critical thinking, problem solving and journaling skills.

Research has shown that students' participation in programs like Campus Calgary helps to improve literacy, writing skills and interest in learning.

At Cross Conservation School students are provided with a week full of opportunities to learn about the environment and its many creatures.  Hands-on exploration and close observation help students learn how to care for the environment.  Each week is unique!

The classroom teacher and Education Coordinator work together to plan a week that best suits their curriculum and incorporates a year-long big idea or study.  And because nature is full of surprises, we make sure to leave plenty of time to examine nature in all its forms from scat to tracks, or discuss whatever comes up along the trail!

Student Showcase: Hawkwood School

An Autumn visit from the grade 3 classes from Hawkwood School inspired a fantastic student website of their time  at the Cross Conservation Area. Their work is a testament to their enthusiasm for nature and their understanding of the value of conservation in their community. Totally epic!
