Are you interested in leading your youth group in a beautiful natural setting? Our self-guided programs offer youth groups an opportunity to learn about nature appreciation and conservation through two engaging programs: Rescue the Fescue and Web of Life.

Our self-guided programs will prepare leaders to guide their group in an interpretive hike full of nature discovery activities. Explore the natural world with a program and materials designed to develop skills in nature observation and exploration.

Our self-guided programs are designed to help complete these badges in the following areas:

Brownies– Environmental Appreciation, Preservation
Cubs– Black Star B Requirements, Naturalist, Observer, World Conservation
Girl Guides– Naturalist, Wildflower, Endangered Species
Scouts– Pathfinder Outdoor Skills, Naturalist
Other Groups– A variety of nature discovery activities suitable for ages 6-14

PROGRAMS

Rescue the Fescue
Explore the roles and adaptations of wildlife and plant life in the grassland and encourage the development of a conservation ethic for the Cross Conservation Area and the grassland.

Program cost: A $75 program fee is required for all program bookings
Program size:
Maximum of 30 participants per group
Duration: 4-5 hours hiked on the Fescue Trail (4.5 km)
Timing: Bookings available Saturday and Sundays and some weekdays depending on availability
Logistics: Props and materials are provided for your program

Web of Life
Get caught up in the connections in the web of life, uncover the important role each species plays in the forest and grassland habitat, and discover how people fit into the web of life. Focus is on the Aspen Parkland community, the inhabitants and their interactions.

Program cost: A $75 program fee is required for all program bookings
Program size:
Maximum of 30 participants per group
Duration: 3-4 hours hiked on the Aspen Trail (3.6 km)
Timing: Bookings available Saturday and Sundays and some weekdays depending on availability
Logistics: Props and materials are provided for your program
