Pine Creek Homecoming: Beaver Release Underway!
Friday, July 20, 2012

Castor Canadensis, Canada's national animal, has returned to the ASCCA.  A reintroduction project, aimed at restoring the Pine Creek watershed, has begun, and you can see the release of one lucky beaver which was live-trapped and relaocated to the ASCCA by viewing it online *here*.

The project is being conducted with the help of the Alberta EcoTrust, the Alberta Conservation Association, the Land Stewardship Centre, the Miistakis Institute, the Calgary Science School, and Cows and Fish, and will monitor changes to the watershed after the beaver population is reintroduced.

Friday, April 13, 2012

An Autumn visit from the grade 3 classes from Hawkwood School inspired a fantastic student website of their time  at the Cross Conservation Area. Their work is a testament to their enthusiasm for nature and their understanding of the value of conservation in their community. Totally epic!
