RESCUE THE FESCUE

The Cross Conservation Area is a 4800 acre nature preserve located 1.5 km. SW of the Calgary City limits off of highway 22X. Our 'Rescue the Fescue' program offers youth groups an opportunity to learn about nature appreciation and conservation. This self-guided program will prepare leaders to to guide their group in an interpretative hike full of nature discovery activities.

Our program is designed to help complete these badges:

Brownies - Environmental Appreciation, Preservation

Cubs - Black Star B Requirements, Naturalist, Observer, World Conservation

Girl Guides - Naturalist, Wildflower, Conservation, Endangered Species

Scouts - Pathfinder, Outdoor Skills, Naturalist

Other Groups - A variety of nature discovery activities suitable for ages 6-14.

Program Information:

  • This self-guided program will take you 4-5 hours.
  • The program is run on the Fescue Trail (4.5 km.).
  • Programs are booked for Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Bookings are taken on a first come first serve basis.
  • The program is designed for a maximum of 30 members per group.
  • All props are provided for your visit.
  • A refundable program deposit of $25 dollars is required for all program bookings.
  • Cancellation of your program must be received two weeks prior to your visit date to receive a deposit refund.
